Erin Skaggs

Erin Skaggs was born and raised in the Beach community of Venice, FL. After graduating from Venice High School, she attended the University of South Florida in Tampa, majoring in Psychology with a minor in Biology. Her first exposure to Veterinary Medicine was working in a general veterinary practice while in school. Erin soon grew to love this field and obtained a job at a multi-discipline specialty hospital in Tampa. Erin developed a keen interest in oncology while working at this practice, and subsequently accepted a position with Southeast Veterinary Oncology in Orange Park in order to work more closely with the cancer patients. Erin is a member of the Veterinary Cancer Society and Veterinary Technician Cancer Society. Erin is very excited with the new developments and advances being made in the field of veterinary oncology. After her own pet was diagnosed with cancer, it brought a whole new meaning to what patients and their families endure. Erin feels this difficult time can be made easier for patients through a high standard of patient care and family education. Pets are no longer just pets, they are members of the family! Erin is the proud parent of a Labrador retriever named Jake (diagnosed with mast cell tumor in the spring of 2004 and doing very well). She also has four beloved cats named Kiwi, Tomato, Sherbert, and Coconut. Her love for these animals helps remind her every day how important advanced veterinary care is to her patients and the families who love them.

Nikki Shulte

Nikki Schulte was born and raised in the small farming community of Hastings, Nebraska. Nikki attended Hastings High School where she discovered an interest in business. After graduation, she attended Hastings College where she majored in business with a special interest in client communications. During college, Nikki married James Schulte, who is a member of the United States Navy. Nikki and her husband relocated to Jacksonville, Florida shortly after their wedding. They were both pleased at being stationed here because of Jacksonville's reputation for nice people and beautiful weather. In addition to her husband, Nikki's four year old dachshund, Max made the move south with them. Max was a gift given to Nikki by her father on Thanksgiving Day. Nikki's interest in veterinary medicine developed because of her love for Max and a desire to understand what was necessary to give him the best life possible. Nikki joined Southeast Veterinary Oncology in November of 2004. Her favorite aspect of veterinary oncology is the knowledge that despite daily dealings with end of life issues, she is able to contribute to a high quality of life for the patients she sees regularly. She accomplishes this through excellent customer service and a true love for the patients who cross her path.
